Our Stories

Our stories are drawn from the relationships between land, ocean, wind, and people - places where ancestry and the natural world speak to one another. They explore memory, movement, resilience, and connection, carrying knowledge that has travelled across generations. Each story invites you to slow down, listen, and find meaning that feels both ancient and alive.

Ngā Kete stories and designs

Te Aka Matua_edited.png

Representing the baskets of knowledge and the sacred vine climbed by Tāwhaki, this tile honours the pursuit of wisdom, learning, and balance across generations.

The baskets of knowledge are not simply relics of myth, they are living vessels that continue to guide us through both peril and opportunity.

Tuhinga stories and designs

Tuhinga means "Writings" and recognises 2 founding documents of Aotearoa. Te Whakaputanga o te Rangatiratanga o Nu Tireni was a declaration of presence, a gathering of rangatira from across the motu who recognised that immense social change was arriving with the Pākehā.

When Te Tiriti o Waitangi followed, our ancestors entered with generosity of spirit.

Poutama stories and designs

Poutama SW Main-07_edited_edited.png

The poutama pattern rises and falls like the staircase of life - each step a rhythm of progress, challenge, trial, and renewal. It is never a straight ascent, but a dance of climbing, pausing, descending, and rising again. In its woven geometry we see the truth of our own journeys: that every situation, whether triumph or hardship, is a step that shapes us.
